Cherry Bekaert Elects Mark Giallonardo and Cathie Stanton to Executive Board

Nationally acclaimed CPA and advisory firm Cherry Bekaert LLP (“the Firm”) is excited to announce the addition of Mark Giallonardo, JD, LLM (Coral Gables, FL) and the re-election of Cathie Stanton, CPA (Bethesda, MD) to its Executive Board (“the Board”).

Elected at Cherry Bekaert’s annual Partners’ Meeting held June 19-21, 2018, Giallonardo will serve alongside Stanton as part of a seven-person panel that oversees the Firm’s management, operation and policies. Firm Managing Partner and CEO Michelle Thompson, CPA (Raleigh, NC) and Partners David Appel, CPA (Coral Gables, FL); David Bettler, CPA (Atlanta, GA); Edward “Eddie” Burke, CPA (Raleigh, NC); and Christine Pierce, CPA (Atlanta, GA) are also members of the Board.

As a Tax Regional Service Line Leader, Giallonardo is responsible for managing and directing Cherry Bekaert’s Tax service line for its Florida and Texas offices. As Tax Principal with more than 25 years of experience, he provides tax consultation to clients in the areas of entity structuring, accounting method changes, and planning for partnerships, S corporations and their owners. He works closely with Cherry Bekaert’s Florida professionals to develop tax minimization and problem resolution strategies for the Firm’s clients and is a recognized and distinguished lecturer on numerous tax topics.

Stanton is the Firm’s National Leader of State and Local Tax (“SALT”) Services and is a Tax Partner with over 30 years of experience. A trusted multi-state advisor, she delivers high-level technical expertise to resolve complex SALT issues for clients. Stanton’s extensive SALT experience includes identifying areas of risk and resolving exposure, entity structuring and design, complex transactional planning, dispute resolution, cash recovery services and performance of due diligence engagements. She is also a member of THInc®, Cherry Bekaert’s specialty practice focused on innovative companies in the technology and health & life sciences, and industrial sectors, and chair of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants SALT Technical Resource Panel.

Giallonardo and Stanton will each assume a three-year term on the Executive Board effective June 22, 2018.
