Cherry Bekaert’s Melisa Galasso Completes 2014 AICPA Leadership Academy Program

Cherry Bekaert LLP (“the Firm”) would like to congratulate Melisa F. Galasso for her inclusion in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (“AICPA”) 2014 Leadership Academy graduating class.
An Audit Professional Practices Senior Manager at the Firm, Galasso was one of 37 Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) that recently completed the Leadership Academy’s four-day program in Durham, North Carolina. As part of the program, she engaged in leadership development sessions with influential leaders such as AICPA Chairman Bill Balhoff, and AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon. Along with other attendees, Galasso also discussed issues currently facing the accounting profession and the approach CPAs must take to remain an active participant in the global marketplace.
Graduating its sixth class, the AICPA’s 2014 Leadership Academy was selected from a pool of over 100 candidates. Recommended by employers, state CPA organizations or both, candidates had to submit their resumes and a personal statement explaining why taking part in the Leadership Academy would be important to them.
