David Appel and Eddie Burke Re-Elected to Cherry Bekaert’s Executive Board

Nationally recognized accounting firm Cherry Bekaert LLP (“the Firm”) is pleased to announce the re-election of Partners David W. Appel (Coral Gables, FL) and Edward “Eddie” T. Burke (Raleigh, NC) to its Executive Board.

Announced at Cherry Bekaert’s annual Partners’ Meeting held on June 14-17, 2016, Appel and Burke will continue to serve on the seven-person panel responsible for the Firm’s management, operation and policies. The other members of the Executive Board include Firm Managing Partner and CEO Howard J. Kies (Richmond, VA), and Partners  Stephen D. Farmer (Augusta, GA),  Rob Martin (Richmond, VA), Brooks E. Nelson (Richmond, VA) and Cathie Stanton (Tysons Corner, VA).

As a Tax Partner, Appel provides comprehensive strategic tax planning services for closely-held entities, S corporations, partnerships, controlled groups and individuals. Appel also serves as the Managing Partner of Cherry Bekaert’s South Florida practice, responsible for coordinating the Firm’s services to clients throughout the region. Recently, Appel was recognized as one of South Florida Business Journal’s 2016 Power Leaders in Law & Accounting.

Burke has been with Cherry Bekaert for more than 25 years. As an Assurance Partner, he provides auditing and consulting solutions to state and local governments and nonprofit entities. Burke’s 30-plus years of experience include serving as an engagement partner or concurring reviewer for over 50 local government entities, and assisting various organizations with obtaining the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

Appel and Farmer will each fulfill a three-year term on the Executive Board effective July 1, 2016.
