Managing Partner Chris Rux Makes Tampa Bay’s 40 Under 40 List

Cherry Bekaert LLP (“the Firm”) is proud to announce Chris Rux, CPA, for being selected as one of Tampa Bay Business Journal’s (“TBBJ”) 40 Under 40 for 2018. Previously named Up & Comers, the TBBJ 40 Under 40 list highlights rising executives, entrepreneurs, sports figures and other individuals in the Tampa Bay community who are under 40 years of age. Over 200 applicants were submitted for this year’s award.
Based in Cherry Bekaert’s Tampa Bay practice, Chris is an Audit Partner who also serves as the leader of the Florida Technology & Life Sciences Industry Group, and on the leadership team of the Firm’s THInc specialty practice. Shortly after becoming the youngest Partner in the Firm’s history in November 2014, he was recommended by the departing predecessor to take over as the Managing Partner of Central Florida. Chris has been in that role since 2016, overseeing relationships to ensure a coordinated and seamless service experience for clients in the Central Florida market.
Outside of his work at Cherry Bekaert, Chris has always stressed the importance of giving back to the Tampa community. To that end, he served on the Board of Tampa Connection, including as Chairman of the Board, for six years. More importantly, upon rolling off the board, he ensured that another of our associates joined to continue the legacy established long before Chris was involved. He currently serves on the Make-A-Wish Advisory Board as well as the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation Executive Board as the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.
“Make-A-Wish is an organization with a mission and purpose that speaks to me, especially as a father. And it’s been an honor to be able to use the skills, knowledge and talents I’ve developed in my professional career to helping make a difference in the lives of families and children in need, Chris says. “Honestly, it’s somewhat of a humbling experience in that I can’t even imagine being in the shoes of the families we assist. For me to even play a small part in making that difference is means a great deal to me every day.”
