Winners of 36|86 Southern Series Event in Arlington Announced

Held on Monday, April 7th at Disruption Corporation, The Southern Series event featured pitches from ten of the Arlington, Virginia, region’s top startup companies. Representatives from some of the country’s leading investment firms were on hand to hear the pitches, including Logan Bartlett of Battery Ventures and Jason Caplain of Bull City Venture Partners.

Companies selected from the Arlington, Virginia, Southern Series event are:

  • Airside Mobile, the creator of Airside Mobile Passport, an app that helps expedite a traveler’s entry through U.S. customs at airports;
  • Babyscripts, a pregnancy monitoring program that aims to improve patient care and satisfaction through the use of Food and Drug Administration-approved wireless weight and blood pressure devices and an iPhone app;
  • EquityEats, the first equity crowdfunding platform for restaurants, bars and coffee shops, helps entrepreneurs and investors of the food and beverage industry develop targeted solutions and raise capital for achieving sustainability and growth; and
  • Virgil Security, Inc., which offers software users password-free authentication into various applications, as well as the encryption and verification of personal data.

The four companies will join winners from The Southern Series mini-series events in Atlanta, Georgia, and Columbia, South Carolina, at the inaugural 36|86 conference. Held June 8-10, 2015, at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tennessee, the conference will feature 36 companies vying for cash prizes, including $36,000 given to the overall winner. Attending companies will also have the opportunity to network with the country’s leading entrepreneurs, investors and media representatives.
