Web Site Helps Make Stimulus Activity Clear to Taxpayers
As stimulus activity increases and funds begin to flow into state government activities, tracking stimulus funds will be increasingly difficult. Stateline.org is run by a nonprofit news organization to monitor governmental activity and report in an easy-to-follow fashion. In their section Stimulus and the States , Stateline provides well-organized news articles as well as graphics and charts to help understand the complexity of state stimulus activity. North Carolina Launches NCOpenBook.gov
North Carolina has introduced a new web site, NCOpenBook , to reinforce transparency in state spending. “In the 21st century, online accessibility and transparency should be the standard for public information,” said Gov. Bev Perdue. “We’re going to let the sun shine in on state contracts.” The site includes a searchable database of 2,500 state contracts and 5,000 grants from the state valued at more than $10,000.
