Overview

This course will address FASB Topic ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, specifically, for not-for-profit and higher education organizations. We will discuss when to implement, the five-step revenue recognition process, and the next steps to implement for the transition. This industry-specific webinar will use specific examples including educational institutions.

Speakers

Melisa Galasso, CPA | Director, Audit Professional Practices | Cherry Bekaert LLP
Melisa Galasso, CPA, is a Director in the Audit Professional Practices Department at Cherry Bekaert.  In this role, she assists with technical issues and quality control of the Firm’s assurance services practice. She also works in the Firm’s training department developing Continuing Professional Education (CPE) ranging from newsletter articles to webinars. She monitors regulatory bodies for changes in auditing and accounting guidance and assists the Firm and its clients in implementing the updated guidance. Melisa received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and International Business and a minor in French from Georgetown University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA). Melisa serves on the Board of NCACPA’s Charlotte Chapter and is chair of the A&A Committee for the NCACPA. She was recognized as a Super CPA by Virginia Business Magazine in 2007 and received the Women to Watch – Emerging Leader Award from the NCACPA and AICPA. She is a graduate of the 2014 class of the AICPA’s Leadership Academy. In 2016, she was honored as one of the Mecklenburg Times 50 Most Influential Women.

Emily Ricigliano | Manager, Assurance Services | Cherry Bekaert LLP
Based in Cherry Bekaert’s Washington, D.C., practice, Emily has over five years of experience providing advisory and assurance services such as compilation, reviews and financial statement audits. She serves a wide range of clients including venture capital firms, hospitality businesses, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions. As an Audit Manager, Emily directs staff and seniors assigned to fieldwork on financial statement audits, and monitors the process of engagements in relation to budgets and due dates. She also supervises and reviews engagement planning, and trains and evaluates staff and seniors.

Complaint Resolution Policy

Cherry Bekaert will make every effort to provide the best training courses possible. Record Retention Policy

Cherry Bekaert will retain all Continuing Professional Education (CPE) documents for five years from training course date. These records will include:

  • Course outline
  • Course content and handouts
  • Sign in sheets
  • Dates and locations of training courses
  • Instructor credentials
  • Course evaluations
  • CPE certificates stating amount of recommended CPE credit

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Cherry Bekaert reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any training courses up to 10 business days prior to the date of the event. Full refunds will be provided to registered course participants if the course is cancelled or if participants are unable to attend the rescheduled event.

Participants who must to cancel their course registration 10 or more business days in advance of the event must contact Karen McManus to receive a full refund of all fees paid. Participants who must cancel their registration within 10 business days of the event, will not receive a refund.
