Cherry Bekaert LLP (“the Firm”), a nationally recognized, growth-oriented CPA firm, today announced the addition of four seasoned professionals, adding significant resources to the Firm’s practice focused on serving the unique needs of private equity firms and their portfolio companies.

As one of the largest accounting and consulting firms in the nation with a dedicated Private Equity Services group, Cherry Bekaert has covered more than 1,000 deals with a total transaction value of more than $75 billion dollars. In adding these experienced resources, the Firm greatly expands its fund-level management, transaction advisory and portfolio company servicing capabilities, while enhancing its ability to deliver high levels of value to financial and strategic clients executing merger and acquisition growth strategies.

The professionals joining Cherry Bekaert include: Jason Painter, Managing Director, Private Equity; Darin Neumyer, ASA, Director, Valuation Services; and Tom Clancy, CPA, CFA and Jesse Rawls, CPA, both senior managers in the Firm’s Transaction Advisory Services practice.

Based in the Firm’s Charlotte practice, Jason Painter brings more than 20 years of extensive financial management, strategy, M&A advisory and financial due diligence experience and post-merger integration activities to Cherry Bekaert’s private equity clients. Prior to joining Cherry Bekaert, he served as the chief financial officer (“CFO”) for a large, multi-location wastewater distribution company that grew organically and through acquisition to become one of the largest industry players in the United States. During his tenure as CFO, the company was owned by multiple private equity firms. Painter’s deep knowledge of the distribution sector combined with his CFO experience in a private equity-backed company provides him the unique ability to work closely with senior lenders, private equity firms, and strategic acquirers and sellers.

Darin Neumyer is a Director in the Firm’s Valuation Services group with more than 20 years of experience focused on calculating the fair value of complex debt and equity instruments typically associated with private equity holdings. He has provided expert witness and litigation support services on disputes involving valuation matters. Neumyer has served companies across an array of industries, which include ownership by private equity firms as well as publicly-traded companies with revenues ranging from several million to more than ten billion dollars. He is based in Cherry Bekaert’s Washington, D.C. practice.

Also based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. practice, Tom Clancy brings nearly a decade of M&A advisory and financial and accounting due diligence to Cherry Bekaert’s private equity clients. His global transaction experience includes more than 100 middle-market transactions where he provided various advisory services for mergers and acquisition activities, joint ventures, financial due diligence, quality of earnings and valuation engagements.

With more than 14 years of experience, Jesse Rawls has assisted private equity and strategic clients in domestic and international mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. He has performed more than 100 buy- and sell-side due diligence engagements with transaction values ranging from $5 million to over $2 billion. Rawls is based in Cherry Bekaert’s Atlanta practice.

“These individuals are all well-respected and highly sought-after professionals in the private equity space,” commented Scott Moss, Managing Partner of Cherry Bekaert’s Private Equity practice. “With the addition of these experienced professionals, we are excited about the expansive opportunities to serve the growing private equity sector across the U.S. and globally. Private equity is an important strategic growth market for our Firm. We will continue to add talent and resources to meet the evolving growth needs of our clients.”
