Cherry Bekaert Promotes Three Professionals to Partner

Cherry Bekaert LLP (“the Firm”), one of the nation’s leading public accounting and consulting firms, congratulates Brynn McNeil, CPA; Daniel Metzel, CPA; and Matthew Socha, CPA, on their promotions to the Firm’s Partner group.

Brynn McNeil is based in Cherry Bekaert’s Washington D.C. practice, and will serve as an Audit Partner. She will continue to lead clients in all phases of the audit process, including engagement planning, performance of audit tests and report writing. In particular, McNeil will provide audit and accounting services to government contractors, owner-managed businesses, nonprofit organizations and employee benefit plans.

Since 2010, McNeil has provided clients guidance in documenting, evaluating and identifying areas to improve internal controls and process, single auditing in accordance with A-133 and the writing of financial statements. She serves as a Firmwide trainer on performing and managing audits, and is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) in Virginia. Professional memberships McNeil holds include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA).

Daniel Metzel will serve as a Tax Partner in the Firm’s Augusta office. His responsibilities include providing tax planning, compliance and consulting services for closely-held businesses, owner-managed businesses, and high-net-worth individuals. With more than 10 years of public accounting experience, Metzel has worked with clients in the manufacturing, real estate and construction, hotel, and professional services sectors. He also possesses Big Four accounting firm experience, is a licensed CPA in Georgia and South Carolina, and is a member of the AICPA and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA).

Matthew Socha will serve as an Audit Partner in Cherry Bekaert’s Charlotte practice. Also a member of the Firm’s Education and Nonprofits industry groups, he provides audit, assurance and advisory services to private and public colleges and universities, community and technical colleges, independent K-12 schools, educational foundation and charitable organizations. Socha offers timely, practical guidance on accounting issues such as the implementation of new standards, meeting compliance with federal and state laws and grant programs, fair value matters and endowments. He also specializes in accounting and tax issues for private clubs, and is a CPA licensed in North Carolina and Wisconsin.
