Clients in South Florida and around the globe, especially those in the technology and life sciences, industrial and financial services sectors, have relied on Cathell’s technical expertise. Additionally, Cathell’s knowledge spans foreign tax credit modeling and optimization, Subpart F planning and analysis, earnings and profits analysis, related-party debt financing, and expatriate tax planning and compliance.

“In his role at Cherry Bekaert, Randall will oversee the International Tax practice for the Firm’s Florida market. His primary focus will be C corporations and outbound tax matters for both public and privately-held companies. Randall brings an added layer of competency to our Florida market which is critical given the recent Tax Reform Act,” remarked David Appel, CPA, Cherry Bekaert’s South Florida Managing Partner. “Further, Randall’s knowledge, expertise and experience strengthen our international tax engagements and reinforce our position at the forefront of professional service providers.”

Before joining Cherry Bekaert, Cathell spent nine years as an international tax director for one of the nation’s largest public accounting, consulting and technology firms. He also served as a tax director for two global companies, in both transportation and manufacturing.

Cathell earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maryland and completed Texas Tech University’s Master of Taxation program. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Florida, where he is actively involved with the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Miami-Dade Beacon Council. Cathell also serves on the Internal Revenue Service Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee (IRPAC).
