Cherry Bekaert LLP (“the Firm”), one of the largest CPA and consulting firms in the country, hosted a Global Private Equity Collaboration Summit (“Summit”) in Charlotte, North Carolina, on January 31, 2018. This Summit was organized in conjunction with Baker Tilly International, a global top 10 accountancy and business advisory network of which Cherry Bekaert is a founding member. In 2016, Baker Tilly International formed an industry vertical focused on serving the unique needs of private equity firms across the globe.

In order to accomplish this mission, it requires collaboration from firms in many different countries. This is a continuation of prior collaboration summits in Cancun, Chicago, Bangkok, and Amsterdam, where individuals have worked on standardization and strategies to enhance the overall skills available to serve this unique industry segment.

As part of the Summit, clients and friends of the Firm were invited to hear a session on how U.S. tax reform will impact private equity firms. In addition to the educational summit, Cherry Bekaert hosted a cocktail reception and dinner where attendees networked and evaluated opportunities to work together on global assignments.

“We heard from a number of different stakeholders in the private equity sector during the summit,” noted Scott M. Moss, CPA, Managing Partner of Advisory Services for Cherry Bekaert. “It’s invaluable to spend time with our private equity clients, prospects and partners at Baker Tilly International member firms to learn how we can continue to add value and stay ahead of global private equity opportunities and requirements.”

Cherry Bekaert is planning follow-up summits and webinars that will feature more in-depth analysis of tax reform along with other pertinent topics that impact private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
