Inflation Rises at Higher Education Institutions
April 26, 2019
The latest Commonfund Higher Education Price Index (“HEPI”) reports that inflation among colleges and universities around the U.S. increased 2.8 percent during fiscal year 2018. The percentage marks a decline from the 2017 rate (3.3 percent), but it is higher than the 2.4 percent average of the past five years. Among the factors contributing to the rising costs are utility expenses and fringe benefits.
More on the 2018 HEPI Report is available on Commonfund’s website. If your institution needs guidance on addressing inflation costs, turn to Cherry Bekaert’s Education industry group .
