Melisa Galasso Appointed to AICPA Volunteer Committee

Cherry Bekaert LLP (“the Firm”) congratulates Audit Senior Manager Melisa Galasso on her appointment to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (“AICPA”) Private Companies Practice Section Technical Issues Committee (“the Committee”) for the 2016-2017 volunteer service year.
Galasso will be part of a volunteer committee dedicated to representing the opinions of local firms and their clients during the standard-setting process. The Committee submits recommendations to standard setters on behalf of small and medium-sized firms. In addition, the Committee keeps firms updated on the latest technical standards, which has become a significant challenge among small firms.
The Committee also works closely with standard-setting boards such as the Financial Accounting Standards Board and Governmental Accounting Standards Board, and other AICPA Senior Committees. Other Committee responsibilities include providing practical assistance to standard setters, offering examples of possible implementation troubles, and serving on standard-setting task forces.
“I am very excited to work on a national level on technical accounting and auditing issues with people from around the country with the same passion,” said Galasso on her appointment.
Galasso will serve a 15-month term with the Committee beginning in October.
