Situation
An individual was seeking to protect his/her assets from potential lawsuits and divorce. The overall plan needed to be flexible and had to have the ability to unwind the plan in the future if necessary.

The Firm’s Private Client Services (“PCS”) group provided the client a variety of options to consider. Options ranged from basic to highly complex, including selecting the best state to establish an asset protection trust. Cherry Bekaert recommended several asset protection attorneys to consider and participated in the selection process.
Solution
Working with the Firm’s PCS Group and the selected attorney, the client selected a list of asset protection options, and implementation was initiated. The client’s day-to-day activities and professional business were not altered as a result of the planning implemented.
