Cherry Bekaert Strengthens Presence in Austin Market with Acquisition of PMB Helin Donovan
Cherry Bekaert (“the Firm”) is pleased to announce the acquisition of PMB Helin Donovan (“PMB”), a leading certified public accounting firm based in Austin, Texas. PMB currently supports a diverse set of clients in Central Texas and its deep full-service expertise complements the Firm’s suite of existing assurance, tax and advisory services.
Cherry Bekaert entered the Austin market in early 2018 with the acquisition of Powell, Ebert & Smolik and continued to grow with the acquisition of Flieller, Kruger & Skelton in early 2019. PMB brings an additional three partners and more than 20 professionals to expand the Firm’s Austin practice to 13 partners and more than 75 associates. The Firm’s combined Austin practice will now be among the six largest CPA and consulting firms serving the area.
“The Austin community continues to be a strategic growth market for Cherry Bekaert,” commented Michelle L. Thompson, Chief Executive Officer and Firm Managing Partner. “The PMB team’s long-standing reputation and alignment to our shared values made it a great fit. We look forward to continuing to bring Cherry Bekaert’s deep expertise in the technology, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing industries, among others, to the growing, diverse and innovative Central Texas area.”
“Our team is excited to join forces with Cherry Bekaert,” said Don McPhee, former PMB Managing Partner and new Partner at Cherry Bekaert. “This combination enables us to deliver additional value to our client relationships within the local business community while also providing a workplace where our professionals can broaden their skillset and build a fulfilling, long-term career.”
In addition to Don, the Firm welcomes Kelly Logan and Chris Bona as Partners as well as David Forrest, Norman Trubee and Talon Woods as Directors. The PMB professional staff will operate at Cherry Bekaert’s 221 West Sixth Street location in downtown Austin.
